Little Earth understands the importance of the early years in a child’s development.  Consistency and continuity of care, by way of primary caregivers, enhances support to our educational program.  This consistency and continuity develops secure and trustworthy relationships between parents, children and staff.

The staff at Little Earth is carefully selected.  Our teachers are qualified and experienced and our assistants and caregivers receive ongoing in-house training.  Our staff is warm and friendly and, at all times, shows respect to the child and his/her interests.

The staff engage in many one-to-one, face-to-face interactions with the children, speaking in a pleasant, soothing voice, using simple, appropriate language and frequent eye contact.  All interactions are characterized by gentle, supportive responses and discipline is handled in a positive way. We are proud of each and every staff member for the love, care and knowledge they bestow on our children.

The children will benefit from a spacious premises - including 10 separate classrooms, different indoor play areas and a unique outdoor play experience.  Further features are an Eco Barn, an outdoor classroom and our very own kitchen garden. A low child-to-caregiver ratio means that each child will receive the attention they deserve.

Both founders -  Esmé van Heerden and Nandi Anderson - have B Ed qualifications and a wealth of pre-school experience between them.  Nandi has more than five years’ experience as an au pair and almost three years’ as a teacher. Esmé owned and managed four Pre-Schools over a period of 27 years in the northern suburbs of Cape Town. During this period she visited several Pre-schools in various countries  to broaden her vision of quality education as well as nurturing her love for the young child.

A new born arrives on earth innocent, full of expectations and armed with loads of potential. Little Earth considers it the duty of both parent and educator to empower each child through compassion and patience to enable them to better understand themselves, those around them as well as nature. The potential is their very own, we simply support in its development.

At Little Earth we embrace the fact that little is great which we believe is a great start for every little human being.
